Advanced Level Exams

Multiple Choice and Case Studies Guidance

The Multiple Choice and the Case Studies are completed online through our examination platform. You will receive an email with login instructions and access details at approximately 10:00 AM (UK time) on the day following your practical examination.

If you do not receive the email, please check your spam or junk folder. If you require assistance, please contact us at info@klinghardtinstitute.com

Multiple Choice

Once you start, you’ll have 1.5 hours to complete the multiple-choice assessment. You will be asked to answer 50 questions selected at random from a question bank.

These may cover all topics and practical competencies listed above for the practical exam, together with additional clinical knowledge and clinical application (see list of content here).

If you do not achieve a passing score on your first attempt, you will be eligible to retake the assessment. The retake must be completed within one week of your initial attempt.

Case Studies Guidance

The case studies are designed to ensure you are using A.R.T. within the scope of your practice, and the work you are certified and licensed to do.

This ensures we can be confident to refer patients to you on certification, and that you will be offering good care and safe protocols.

Having high standards will be for the benefit of all our A.R.T. Professionals.

Instructions:

Type of case: Please choose new cases (not follow-ups) for both your Advanced A.R.T. cases. Select cases with enough complexity to allow allocation of marks. Please note that we cannot award marks for aspects of a case that go beyond the scope of what we are looking for in this A.R.T. Advanced exam.

Background: Please begin by outlining your practitioner background, scope of practice, specialisms and what you are licensed to do within the clinical setting. This allows us to mark correctly with knowledge of what you are not able to include or recommend so that no marks are lost in those areas.

Marks will be allocated in five sections:

  1. Case history 20%
  • What has the client come to you for, how have they decided to use A.R.T.?
  • Does their visit fit into a bigger picture – are there other therapists involved in their care?
  • Outline the relevant information, usually from your intake form.
  • Give details of relevant medications and laboratory tests.
  1. A.R.T. testing 20%
  • Detail the testing process you used. Explain the routes of testing chosen, relating back to the case presented at the start.
  • State each step of the A.R.T. assessment, how it was performed, what the result was, and how you interpret your findings.
  • Explain how you have managed to address the goals and concerns that the client asked you to support.

The Assessment Form is provided for your own reference and use. You do not need to upload it to the exam platform. It is intended as a tool to support you in carrying out your A.R.T. testing

  1. Explanations 20%
  • Detail the dialogue you had with the client to explain your findings. How do your results help to explain what they came to you with? This may be easiest written as a script of how you summarised the key findings and related them back to the client’s key complaints.
  • Note any questions you were asked and how you answered these.
  • Note any instructions you gave at the time, such as what the client can expect to happen next.
  • Also note anything that you discovered in the testing that you decided to not mention, and the reasons why.
  1. Post-consult 20%
  • Detail your reflections on the consult given, what worked well, and what you would do differently next time. It’s not expected that every consult runs perfectly, there are challenges that come up or thoughts you have afterwards of points you would have liked to check, and it is good to see that you are aware of limitations and reflect on these to develop your clinical skills further.
  • Please detail anything that you looked up to confirm that your A.R.T. findings and doses tested make sense according to the research base and clinical guidelines. This includes any interaction checks needed and dose checks that may be relevant to ensure safety.
  1. Protocol 20%
  • Please attach what was given or sent to the client, their protocol instructions, and copies of any handouts given.
  • This should also include any follow-up information.
  • Include details of the exact products you would like them to use, how to source them, how to take them, and in what order you would introduce things.
  • Include details of any dietary and lifestyle suggestions that would apply based on the information from your A.R.T. Assessment, and any follow-up tests or monitoring recommended.
